Worcester Wolves, Wheelchair Basketball.

Worcester Wolves Wheelchair Basketball Club came up against a strong Gloucester Blazers teams in their second pre-season game of 2016/17.

Gloucester Blazers put together a tough and competitive team as the experienced Worcester Wolves came together for their first competitive game as a new squad. With only two weeks of team training under their belts they put on a display of solid team cohesion and individual skill.

Having worked on predominantly shooting skills and defence going into the game, Wolves showed great communication at times appearing to be a very collective team. Rob Whale and Frankie Jones worked well as a ball handling unit, demonstrating fast breaks, splitting the play and providing structure in both defence and offensive transitions, whilst other point guards such as Tasha Davies and Beth Griffith-Salter showed great temperament in working with the forwards to develop two man games to add width and good movement off and on the ball, whilst Evelyn Roberts showed her experience creating problems behind Gloucester’s defensive lines. Finally the forward unit of Thomas Creese and Oliver Lewis were strong and showed strength getting into the key. With it all to play for this season, Wolves showed what they are made of moving forward into training and their first game of the season against Aces on 22nd October. The team will take away a lot of fantastic team and coach feedback and develop systems of strength in all areas of the court as the season progresses.
